The Faculty Early Career Development Program (CAREER) is the National Science Foundation's (NSF) most prestigious grant, supporting early-career faculty for five years in conducting and integrating a research and an education plan. Although no Co-PIs are allowed, rather than a solitary process, the grant planning and writing can benefit from involving community partners, colleagues, mentors, and different people at the University. In this workshop, I will share my collaborative journey toward the NSF CAREER grant. Together, we will think about how to develop and nurture key partnerships that align with attendees’ foci and goals.
Please come to the Zoom meeting expecting an interactive session that uses breakout rooms.
Dr. José Martínez Hinestroza is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction. He was recently awarded the NSF CAREER grant for his project “CAREER: Affirming Bilingual Children’s Participation in Mathematics.”
This is part of the 2023-2024 lecture series on research and grants funded by the College of Education Research Office. The overall theme of this ongoing series is how to find, apply for, win, and spend grant funding as a faculty member of any rank at Texas State University.
Some of the lectures planned will provide information useful to faculty at all colleges. Other lectures will focus on sponsors interested in Education Research and will primarily appeal to those faculty whose research would interest the sponsors.
