Description:

Join us in Alkek One to build sensitive machines, including robot pets, interactive wearables, and thank you cards that light up and make noise. On Friday May 6 the special focus will be on crafting Mother’s Day cards! Creative computation has never been easier! We’re working with micro:bit controllers to create electronic greeting cards. If you would like to purchase a micro:bit in advance, you can do so here: https://www.sparkfun.com/products/17288

We will also have micro:bits for purchase in Alkek One for the playshops. Please reach out to one of us and let us know if you would like to purchase a micro:bit.

Otherwise, we will have sample materials for exploration and experimentation in workshops (we call them playshops!). You can always buy a micro:bit for your design when the playshops are over. Playshops are generative but not sequential, so you can come and go as you please. Attend one or attend them all! Work on the same design throughout, or start a new design each time! Build on what you learn and help others learn too. Additionally, a stand-alone micro:bit playshop will also run during the Spring Maker Day: https://signup.txstate.edu/topics/1782-spring-alkek-maker-day

No previous coding or programming experience required. This is a hands-on, collaborative workshop.
