In this session, attendees will combine skills learned in the first session to execute GIS operations. This is a hands-on workshop so attendees will have the chance to practice everything taught during the lesson.
NB: This is an advanced topic so it is recommended that attendees first take one of the intro to GIS workshops such as Introduction to GIS / Mapping or Exploring Open Source GIS I if they have no prior knowledge in GIS or the ArcGIS software before this one.
Since this workshop is hybrid (both in-person and online), participants who join via online (zoom) are expected to have the required software already installed on their computer prior to attending this workshop. The required applications include the following:
1. Python 2.7: https://www.python.org/download/releases/2.7/
2. ArcGIS Desktop: https://itac.txstate.edu/support/arcgis/desktop.html OR
ArcGIS Pro: https://itac.txstate.edu/support/arcgis/pro.html
AND
3. PyScripter 2.6: https://sourceforge.net/projects/pyscripter/files/PyScripter-v2.6/ OR
Pycharm Community: https://www.jetbrains.com/pycharm/download/#section=windows
If you’re unable to install them, please show up in class in Alkek 440.
