Description:

You are invited to a Faculty Showcase event on February 17, 2012 at noon on the topic of "How I Learned to Use TRACS to Improve Student Outcomes and Simplify Course Preparation". The event is sponsored by Instructional Technologies Support (ITS) and will be held in the Alkek Library building. Dr. Deb Balzhiser from the English Department will serve as master of ceremonies.

Our featured speaker is Dr. Jennifer Jensen who attended a two-week ITS course in which she learned how to set up her course in TRACS in a way that helps maximize student learning. Additional benefits include faster and easier course preparation for Jensen in subsequent semesters and more efficient assessment procedures. Jensen is an Assistant-Professor in the Department of Geography at Texas State University, who teaches about remote sensing and biogeography.

Jensen says her re-designed course has made coursework expectations transparent and improved student motivation and engagement. She will provide a short presentation on the tools she now uses in TRACS and show how they have simplified and enriched her courses. She will then take questions from the audience.

This is a brown bag event, so bring your lunch and come and spend an hour with Dr. Jensen as she shares her teaching and learning experience.

Water, soft drinks and cookies will be provided. Plan to arrive by 11:45am or earlier as the program will begin promptly at noon.

There is a limit of 50 attendees for this event.
