Title: From Answers to Insights: the Business Skill No One Teaches

Description: This session immerses students in rapid, hands-on experimentation with powerful questions. Participants will spend most of the session actively practicing—testing questions in live scenarios, observing how different questions shape thinking, and iterating in real time. Through quick cycles of ask–reflect–refine, students will experience firsthand how small shifts in a question can unlock insight, challenge assumptions, and move discussions forward. The session prioritizes doing over discussing, leaving participants with sharpened instincts and immediately usable question tools for cases, teamwork, interviews, and leadership conversations.

Bio: Catherine McKay, ACC, is an Organization Development professional with a passion for helping leaders and teams create the safe and supportive conditions for people to thrive. For 17 years, she consulted across the Shell ecosystem, partnering with leaders to identify what was getting in their way of delivering great results. She developed extensive expertise as a result of leading the engagement strategy for Shell's enterprise-wide safety initiative, improving and deepening all aspects of safety throughout the company with a specific emphasis on psychological safety in teams and growth mindset. Catherine aims to help leaders develop competence and confidence to lead authentically, whether through one-on-one coaching or through grassroots efforts to transform culture from the bottom up. She brings a range of structures and tools, as well as deep knowledge on how to hold meaningful dialogue and engage in problem-solving, how people learn, how to give feedback that can be heard, how to identify what motivates people, and how to work from an organization's individual and team strengths.
