Join Assistant Vice President of Research at Texas State University, Dr. Jennifer Speed for a presentation and Q&A covering external funding opportunities and practices for early career faculty. We will explore approaches and practices that can help faculty to successfully compete for common funding mechanisms from NSF, NIH, and various foundations that are specifically tailored to launch faculty member’s independent research programs. Topics will include how early career grants can build faculty credibility, generate pilot data for larger grants, and lay the foundation for a sustained research portfolio.
Participants will learn about:
-funding mechanisms intended for early career faculty;
-approaches and strategies for finding, and applying for, early career funding;
-support structures for applicants;
-how to use every grant application to advance their research, regardless of whether or not the grant was funded.
