Terrence Malick is one of America’s most celebrated filmmakers whose works have been long been heralded for their artistry and beautify. Martin Woessner’s masterful new study makes the case, however, that what truly sets Malick’s films apart is their ideas.
Martin Woessner, historian and film scholar at CUNY, will present ideas from his new book and share his thoughts on philosophical filmmaking at a picnic-style lunch in Honors. Afterwards, he will host a screening of Jean Renoir’s New Wave classic Picnic on the Grass (1959), a film that deeply inspired Malick’s vision and craft.
Please RSVP if you are coming for the talk and lunch in Lampasas!
