Students who take an online course with strong teaching presence feel that the course is well designed, socially inviting, personally meaningful, and educationally worthwhile. Students have the sense that the instructor is right there with them, guiding them along the way. In this workshop, Kathryn Lee (C&I), a seasoned online instructor, will focus on how to increase online teaching presence via a number of strategies, including setting the climate for learning, facilitating discourse, and helping students make connections with each other and the instructor. Liz Strand (ITS) will host the workshop.
