This Training is only for people who have been directly invited.
The mission is to provide training that was developed for first responders, community members, and other front-line volunteers on how to promote an environment of safety, calm and connectedness, empowerment and hope.It is intended to minimize distress behaviors that increase fear and anxiety. The primary objective of this training is to give people a better understanding of common reactions to stressful events, as well as how to listen and provide practical assistance.This training teaches participants how to cope with emergencies and give immediate support to people in stressful situations.
About the Presenter: Anthony Winn is a Licensed Professional Counselor – Supervisor. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Texas State University and a Master of Arts in Forensic Psychology from the University of Houston – Victoria. His career has largely been focused on Community Mental Health working with individuals living with serious and persistent mental health conditions. He currently serves as the Director of Clinical Operations for Hill Country MHDD Centers which is the Local Mental Health Authority for 19 counties in Texas including Hays.
This workshop is intended to provide information on the following:
- Discuss mental hygiene while traveling
- Distinguish between normal and abnormal experience of symptoms
- Discuss how to approach a friend when you see signs that they may be struggling
- Identify at what point professional help should be sought
