Description:

There's a lot of understandable confusion around the distinction between projects that require IRB approval and those that qualify for exemption. Many faculty researchers and grad students are not even aware there is an option for exemption.
They spend valuable time preparing an application, filling out forms, completing training...then they discover they could have requested exemption.
They send an entire class of undergrads through the IRB application process unnecessarily.
They know the research they're doing is exempt but don't understand why they need to apply for an exemption request.
The goal of this training from Research Integrity & Compliance is to help you understand the differences between exempt and non-exempt, submit the appropriate application, save yourself (and the IRB) time, and conduct the highest quality research possible.
