Dr. Patricia Young is an associate professor and the Program Director for Elementary Education at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. Dr. Young is also an educational technologist and software developer. She examines culture as a “design construct in the development of culture-based information and communication technologies” (Young, 2021). Her expertise in instructional design & technology and culture has led to the development of a framework for guiding the build of culture-based information and communication technologies –– the Culture Based Model. Her latest book, Human Specialization in Design and Technology: The Current Wave for Learning, Culture, Industry and Beyond (2021) examines recent trends in teaching and learning: standardization, personalization, customization, and specialization and spotlights those that specifically target human needs for learning success. Her work speaks directly to the notion of resiliency. Learn more about Dr. Young and her work at her website, http://patriciayoung.com/.
