Texas State instructors who teach online or hybrid courses are required to complete a professional development program, and this approved Quality Matters workshop is accepted for this requirement.
The “Designing Your Online Course” workshop includes an overview of the QM Rubric and provides a framework for participants to design an online course plan. An integral element of the workshop is exploration of the eight General Standards of the QM Rubric, focusing on learning objectives and overall course alignment. Participants will complete a Course Development Plan. The plan includes all of the essential Specific Review Standards (SRS) with a column for how the participant will meet the SRS in their course and what resources they will need.

Recommended For:
Faculty and Instructors who are new to online and hybrid teaching.
Workshop Participants:
1.) You will need eight hours of availability to attend the QM course on either May 14, 15, or 18.
2.) You will need Internet access for the length of the workshop, as well as a working web cam and microphone. Workshop will be held via Zoom. (See https://doit.txstate.edu/services/online-meetings for more information on Zoom.)
3.) Please bring your syllabus for the course you plan to design, as well as a course outline and list of objectives for each lesson, unit, or module.
4.) To be certified to teach online or hybrid courses at Texas State, you will also need to complete the Texas State supplement in TRACS or Canvas, "Teaching Online at TXST," which is a brief course focusing on essential material specific to Texas State. The Office of Distance and Extended Learning will enroll you in this supplemental course when you enroll in the QM workshop.
