The Retention Management and Planning Office is looking for staff, faculty or students to assist with Welcome Tents scheduled for Tuesday, January 21 and Wednesday, January 22, 2020.
Welcome Tents is an event that occurs during the first two days of every long semester to help new and returning students find classes, answer questions, and give information about campus resources.
Please note that to reserve your own space at The Quad, you MUST go through Student Involvement. If you sign-up to assist with our Welcome Tents event, you will be assigned a role to assist within our event.
We are also collecting giveaway items to hand out to students during Welcome Tents. If you have items to share or have questions about Welcome Tents, please email Miguel Arellano Arriaga at email@example.com or call the Retention Management and Planning Office at 512-245-5500.
Please sign up using this reservation system. Please meet at the electronic sign at the Quad (except 8:00 AM shift, which will meet at the Retention Management & Planning Office) at the beginning of your shift. Dress for the weather and to be comfortable standing! If weather appropriate please wear a TXST shirt and a name badge. You will receive more information via email the day prior to your shift.
8:00am – 10:00am: First hour will be tent setup, involving unloading boxes and setting up in the Welcome Tents areas. Second hour will involve answering student questions, and providing campus resources.
10:00am – 12:00pm: Will involve answering student questions, and providing campus resources.
12:00pm – 2:00pm: First hour will involve answering student questions, and providing campus resources. Second hour will involve breakdown of the Welcome Tents event, including loading boxes and clearing the event area.
