Studies have shown that lecture is surprisingly ineffective when it comes to students’ long-term retention of information. Students are much more likely to retain information through teaching others, practice or group
discussion. This session will demonstrate how to incorporate active learning in a University Seminar classroom and how easily active learning techniques can be implemented. Session attendees will have the opportunity to try some activities, like create a “goal time-capsule” for the courses they are teaching and experiment with alternate ways to take notes.
