Three Minute Thesis (3MT®) is a research communication competition in which master's students on a thesis track and PhD/EdD students have three minutes to present a compelling oration on their research and its significance. The 3MT® promotes presentation and communication skills, provides opportunities and feedback for students to work on explaining their research to a non-specialized audience, and in general helps students hone their “elevator pitch” discussions of their dissertations (especially useful for those students heading into job interviews!).
Each University Preliminary Group will have four winners: 1st place PhD/EdD, 1st place master's student, overall runner up, and people's choice. All four winners from each group will win a cash prize and move on to the University Final. The University Final Competition will have three winners: 1st place overall, 1st place runner up, and people's choice.
