Canvas Toolkit: Assignments and Grading
Description:

TXST Canvas is Texas State's learning management system (LMS). Canvas allows you to build a digital learning environment to simplify teaching and elevate learning. This workshop is intended for current Texas State Instructors.

Learn how to use the Canvas Assignments and Grades tools, and other tools to assist you in assessing your students.

We’ll cover:

- How to Create an Assignment
- How to Create Assignment groups for gradebook weighting
- Creating Rubrics and adding them to Assignments
- How to use the SpeedGrader
- Grades tool settings, including default grades, marking late or excused, and more.
- Analytical tools available

Prerequisite: Completion of Canvas Basics class, or basic understanding of Canvas functions.

Online Sessions will be conducted online using the Zoom application. A Zoom Pro account is provided free of charge for current faculty, staff, and students. Once registered, participants will be sent a meeting invitation via email. Participants will join the meeting from a quiet space of their choosing. A computer or mobile device with an internet connection and speakers/headphones are required to join. A webcam is not required to attend this workshop. Note: This workshop is only open to Faculty, Staff, and Instructional Teaching Assistants, and may be cancelled if fewer than 5 people register.
