This Shop Talks session is designed to help graduate students make a mid-semester transition from face-to-face classes to a remote/online learning environment. Mr. Willett from the Office of Distance and Extended Learning will cover the topics below in the first half of the session and leave the last half for questions, so bring your questions!
Prepare:
-create the proper space for your home classroom
-familiarize yourself with the learning management system
-review syllabi thoroughly and update calendar/planner with syllabus changes
Communicate + Engage:
-understand best practices for communicating in an online learning environment
-build an online community and support system
Ask for Help:
-know where to get help when you need it
-identify the typical tools you will want to have handy - including the free ones!
