TXST Canvas is Texas State's learning management system (LMS). Canvas allows you to build a digital learning environment to simplify teaching and elevate learning. This workshop is intended for current Texas State Instructors. This workshop will provide you a deeper dive into Canvas Tools available, and is designed to follow the Canvas Basics course.
Participants will learn how to:
- Input and distribute grades for students.
- Display grades as points, percentages, complete or incomplete, pass or fail, GPA scale, and letter grades.
- Create Assignment Groups for grade weighting.
- Connect Rubrics to Assignments and Quizzes.
Prerequisites:
Participants should:
- Have a working knowledge of how to create Assignments and Quizzes.
- Have completed Canvas Basics training, the TXST Canvas 101 self-paced Canvas Course, or have self-studied to the point of general understanding of Canvas.
- Bring your Duo device if you plan to follow along in your own site.

Classroom Sessions will provide computer workstations for participant access.
Online Sessions will be conducted online using the Zoom application. A Zoom Pro account is provided free of charge for current faculty, staff, and students. Prior to class, participants will be sent a meeting invitation via email which will include additional instructions on how to download and setup Zoom. Participants will join the meeting from a quiet space of their choosing. A computer or mobile device with an internet connection, speakers/headphones, and microphone are required to join. A webcam is not required to attend this workshop but is necessary to use the full features of Zoom.
