Description:

Dr. Scott Bowman, Associate Professor of Criminal Justice and Special Assistant to the Provost for Inclusion & Diversity and Ameerah McBride, J.D., Chief Diversity Officer, Director of Equity & Inclusion, and Title IX Coordinator.

This interactive workshop provides a review of the faculty hiring process with an emphasis on inclusion and diversity. The presenters will discuss policies and procedures to increase the quality and diversity of applicant pools, reduce inconsistencies in assessing applicants, and eliminate differential treatment.
Specific topics to be discussed include:
• Roles of the search committee chair and members
• Steps in building a recruitment plan
• Advertising and recruiting
• Assessment process
• Candidate visits/interviews
• Candidate selection
• Extending and negotiating an offer
