Stop the Bleed began as an initiative of the American College of Surgeons following the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in 2012. The program’s goal is to help bystanders assist injured persons in any type of emergency and potentially save lives by controlling life-threatening bleeding.
“We want to empower bystanders to save lives by teaching proper bleeding control techniques, such as the use of pressure and tourniquets,” said Training Instructor Katie Contreras.
This class will discuss how to respond in an emergency, tourniquet application, wound packing, and airway management. The class format includes a short lecture and lots of hands-on practice.
Expect two hours for the training.
