Description:

This workshop will address the role that recommenders play in the external funding, award, and job application processes. While these types of letters are similar, there are also important differences in genre for the letter writer to keep in mind. Topics will include avoiding gender bias, formatting your letter, making a persuasive argument in support of your student, and tailoring the letter to the specific audience and purpose. We will also discuss common pitfalls as well as provide examples of successful letters. This workshop is designed for both beginning and experienced letter writers.
