Description:

Come learn how to become an effective mentor for our former foster care students here at Texas State University. FACES (Foster Care Alumni Creating Educational Success) is a program that is aimed at helping former foster care students transition from foster care to college life. In addition, FACES provides Texas State students with faculty/staff mentors and advocates who provide support to FACES students in a variety of ways. Mentors receive specific training on the needs and strengths of foster care alumni. In addition, mentors promote positive relationships and connection, as well as advocacy and support. Advocates are MSW interns who partner with Vice President for Student Affairs Office to provide support and engage students and mentors. They also help manage the mentor/mentee relationship. If you would like to become a FACES mentor, please attend this workshop.
