Description:

Mr. Dana Willett, Director, Office of Distance & Extended Learning will be leading this discussion. From textbooks to videos and software, our instructional materials help us reach many students. But for others, these same resources can become barriers to learning. Ensuring that our instructional materials are accessible creates a welcoming learning environment for all students and complies with federal accessibility laws. What are our responsibilities as faculty? Who can we ask for help if needed? We will explore how faculty have made their courses accessible for students with disabilities while elevating the quality of instruction and inclusion for everyone. This interactive workshop will explain what to do to create accessible courses and how to find resources and support. Mr. Willett and consultants will be available to advise individual faculty after the session as needed. This workshop will be recorded, and the video will be made available on the Faculty Development and ODEL websites later this semester.
