This seminar meets two afternoons: Monday, May 21 and Tuesday, May 22, 1pm - 4pm.
The purpose of the 2-day seminar is to introduce the binary logistic regression model. The seminar will provide some conceptual background to understand estimation, but the course does not provide a calculus-based treatment of the topic. The seminar centers instead on the following:
(1) interpretation of results from SPSS; and
(2) the most popular coefficient transformations.
Attendees will learn that these topics are applicable to other regression models for discrete outcome
variables, sometimes called limited or categorical dependent variables.
Prerequisite: Attendees should have a basic understanding of the standard linear model and statistical inference.
Audience: Attendees should be graduate students, researchers, and faculty members who want an introduction to logistic regression, or those who want a refresher course. Logistic regression is useful to those researchers interested in explaining binary-outcome dependent variables, which are sometimes called dummy, dichotomous, event, or categorical dependent variables.
