You are invited to a Faculty Showcase event on April 2, 2015 at noon on the topic of "Motivating the Undergraduate in a Hybrid or Online Course". The event is sponsored by Instructional Technologies Support (ITS). Our featured speaker is Dr. Michelle Read from Instructional Design.
Read is a recent graduate of the Learning Technologies program at The University of Texas at Austin, where she worked with faculty on the design and development of their face-to-face, hybrid, and fully online courses. Her research interest focuses on the design and development of online learning environments that enhance opportunities for building knowledge, self-efficacy, and motivation in the learner. She also teaches two undergraduate courses at St. Edward’s University, one in hybrid format and the other fully online.
At Texas State University, Read is an Instructional Designer who works with faculty who are building online courses.
In this session, Read will discuss research that points to factors that encourage self-motivated behavior in undergraduate students. She will provide practical methods to increase student levels of autonomy and competence in the challenging environment of an online course. Read will also take questions from the audience.
This is a brown bag event, so bring your lunch and come and spend an hour with Dr. Read as she shares her valuable knowledge and experience in motivating undergraduate students in an online course.
