Faculty will learn about the gender identity, Transgender, and all the subcategories of identity encompassed in the term transgender. Best practices for supporting and including transgender and gender non-conforming students in classes will be discussed. Texas State policies will be shared and resources for Transgender students will be offered. Faculty will learn best practices for creating inclusive syllabi, curriculum, and discussion around transgender issues. Material discussed will be pertinent for all courses...from engineering to human sexuality. Statistics about ways in which the transgender community is marginalized will be shared to further emphasize why this community needs attention and recognition in your classroom materials.
